I’m going to volunteer at TASK. What do I need to know?
TASK is looking forward to seeing you! Please arrive at your scheduled time and wear comfortable clothes and sneakers (jeans are OK but please avoid open-toed shoes, off-the-shoulder shirts and short shorts). Street parking is available along Escher Street. Ring the doorbell at the front door and someone will welcome you to TASK with instructions about your volunteer shift.
For meal service: you will be working with food, so there is a chance your clothes may get dirty. Aprons, hats and gloves will be provided. If you have any questions about meal service volunteering, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at (609) 695-5456 x114 or volunteer@trentonsoupkitchen.org.
For adult education volunteering: if you have questions: please contact our AEWP Manager at (609) 695-5456Â x121 or adulted@trentonsoupkitchen.org.
What is the minimum age for volunteering?
TASK requires volunteers to be 13 years or older. For those who are younger, we encourage you to volunteer for an at-home Service Project or host a donation drive.
To host a donation drive, contact our Development Department at (609) 695-5456 x117 or fundraising@trentonsoupkitchen.org
Do you accept donations of food or personal items?
Yes. If you would like to donate food, hygiene products or other items, you can download our current Wish List. Donations are accepted Mondays through Thursdays 8:30 am – 3:30 pm and Fridays 8:30 am – 1:30 pm, no appointment needed. The donation pantry is located at the back of the building at the end of the driveway between TASK and the animal shelter. If the door is closed, you can ring the bell and someone from TASK will respond. Please do not leave items at TASK when no one is there.
Does TASK offer community service opportunities?
TASK offers many community service opportunities that can help fulfill the requirements of your school, house of worship or social organization.
If you are 13 years or older, you can serve at our main location: 72 1/2 Escher Street, Trenton, NJ 08609.
If you are under the age of 13, you can still participate in one of our many Service Projects. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at (609) 695-5456 x114 or volunteer@trentonsoupkitchen.org to learn about opportunities and to schedule your service.
Can I do my court-ordered community service at TASK?
TASK no longer officially hosts court-ordered community service. If you wish to serve at TASK please register as a volunteer on this website.
