Get Help
Our location in Trenton is a safe, welcoming place for people to come and eat a free, hot, nutritious meal, no questions asked. Guests are invited to stay for their meal or take one to go. For those who can’t get to the Escher Street location, we serve food at 39 community meal sites, including a mobile soup kitchen.
We also offer a wide range of free programs and services, including providing basic necessities, adult education, job training and creative arts. TASK also offers case management services to help people obtain identification, housing, domestic violence assistance, peer recovery and more.

Meal Service
TASK serves hot meals six days a week, no questions asked. Our Escher Street dining room is a warm and comfortable place to enjoy a nutritious, delicious meal including a salad bar and coffee service. Guests are invited to stay for their meal or take a meal to go.

Lunch: Monday – Saturday, 10:30 am – 1 pm
Dinner: Monday – Thursday, 3:30 pm – 5 pm
Holidays: TASK serves lunch on the following holidays (but only when the holiday occurs between Monday and Saturday):

Adult Education
TASK’s Education and Employment Programs are tailored to each student’s needs and goals. TASK works with volunteer tutors to provide one-on-one and group education, free of charge. We also offer training in a wide range of subjects, from reading and writing to computer skills to culinary arts. We can help students obtain a high school equivalency diploma, enroll in a career training program, gain U.S. citizenship, get a driver’s permit or enter the workforce.
Hours: By appointment.

Computer Lab & Classes
Computers are extremely important to navigate everyday life – now more than ever. TASK offers a computer lab with internet access and provides free computer classes in basic typing, email and internet navigation, computer literacy and word processing. Computer classes can be scheduled through our Adult Education program.
Hours: The Computer Lab is open to the public Monday – Thursday, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm; and Friday, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Job Search & Employment Services
TASK’s Education and Employment Programs help patrons to build the confidence and skills necessary to search for, obtain and maintain employment. Our on-site Workforce Development Coordinator provides free career counseling, career readiness and life skills training as well as support services to help students and patrons transition to college, job-training programs and employment. We work with local businesses to host on-site hiring drives and develop job opportunities suited to our patrons’ skills and abilities.
Hours: TASK’s Job Search Specialist is available by appointment Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

Case Management
Working with dozens of community partners, our on-site Case Management team connects those in need with resources such as identification, housing, clothing, medical care, veterans’ services and more.
Hours: Case Managers are available by appointment or on a first-come, first-served basis Monday – Friday from 10:30 am – 1 pm and Monday – Thursday from 3:30 pm – 5 pm.

Patron Services
TASK’s Patron Services office provides patrons with a wide variety of necessities, including:
- Use of phone & fax machine
- Mail services for individuals in transition or experiencing homelessness
- Hygiene items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.)
- Reading glasses
- Clothing and seasonal items (scarves, hats, coats)
- Over-the-counter medications (pain relievers, antacids, lip balm)
- Feminine hygiene products
- Socks
- Rain ponchos
Hours: Monday – Friday during meal service from 10:30 am – 1 pm; and Monday through Thursday from 3:30 pm – 5 pm.

Creative Arts Programs
Each week, interested patrons gather to work on visual arts pieces, share their writing, or play music. All artistic styles and skill sets are welcome.
The Visual Arts participants work in a wide variety of media, including paint, pencil, ink, pastel, collage, sculpting and found object construction to express their unique points of view. The SHARE Creative Writing and Performance Arts group comes together to write and share their poetry, plays, short stories and more. TASK’s musical group, The FunkTASKtiks, plays at TASK and around the Trenton area, coming together to jam, perform their own creations and cover the hits!
