This week the TASK Truck reached a new milestone: 100,000 meals served!

When TASK launched the mobile meals program in March of 2024, the goal was simple — more meals, more places. A core TASK belief is that access means more than just availability.

Many people in the Trenton community are facing barriers to food security including disability, childcare, transportation and more. The TASK Truck aims to overcome those obstacles, bringing meals into neighborhoods across Trenton where barriers are highest.

The TASK truck has seen considerable growth since its first trip out. Starting with 4 days and 5 sites, it has now grown to 5 days every week and a total of 9 different locations throughout the city of Trenton. Having the food truck available closer to home is critical for many of the community members served. According to a recent TASK survey of food truck patrons, over half reside less than 10 minutes away from the food truck site they were surveyed at. Only about 1/3 of food truck patrons have also gone to the main Escher St location, emphasizing the importance of various locations throughout Trenton.

“One of the many things I love about the TASK food truck is that it has become a community,” says Max Gatto, Food Truck Coordinator. “We come to distribute meals, yes, but it has become a support network in so many ways with partnerships as well as people that come to the truck that also want to give back to the community in whatever way they can.”

“While we are proud of this achievement, we are reminded that hunger is increasing throughout our community,” says TASK CEO Amy Flynn. “Like everything we are able to achieve at TASK, the food truck is a testament to the compassion and dedication of our staff, donors and volunteers who continue to make this dream a reality. Thanks to their support, we can continue to expand access to food to our neighbors in need.”
