This Thanksgiving, hundreds of Trenton residents received “Thanksgiving at Home” baskets as part of TASK’s annual holiday program, which is funded by a generous donation from the Geltzer Family Foundation.

David and Leslee Geltzer, who have provided funding to the program since its inception, have helped serve Thanksgiving meals to nearly 15,000 people. “It is our honor and privilege to help families in need enjoy a turkey dinner with all the trimmings to celebrate at home,” the Geltzers say.

Each “basket” includes a frozen turkey, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy mix, cornbread, veggies, macaroni and cheese, pie and even a roasting pan — everything recipients need to enjoy a holiday meal in the comfort of their own home.

For the fifth year in a row, volunteers from Amazon joined TASK to hand-deliver packages containing the turkey and all the trimmings necessary to create a bountiful Thanksgiving meal.

TASK is also grateful to the hundreds of individuals who have contributed to the Thanksgiving at Home program, as well as employees from BXP – Carnegie Center who helped to pack bags; ETS, who ran a company-wide donation drive to collect items to go into these special deliveries; and Affinity Federal Credit Union, who were on-site at TASK to aid with the distribution. All of these organizations also provided financial support to help with aspects of the program.

“The Thanksgiving at Home program is a highlight of our holiday programming. It truly showcases the impact we can have when people come together in partnership and service,” says TASK CEO Amy Flynn.

“With the current atmosphere of uncertainty, this program has been especially critical,” adds Flynn. “To provide people with the opportunity to prepare and enjoy a Thanksgiving meal in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by their loved ones, is always a profound gift.”
