Hunger is a big problem. We think bigger.
What We Do
Right now, nearly 40,000 people in the greater Mercer County area, including children, don’t have enough to eat.
TASK prepares more than 10,000 meals per week, three-quarters of which benefit residents of Trenton, where 75 percent of Mercer County’s homeless population lives. We also serve places where hunger is more hidden, including Princeton, Hightstown, Lawrenceville, East Windsor and Morrisville, PA.
But food alone won’t solve the problem. Food insecurity – and its result, hunger – have many causes. That’s why we approach the problem holistically and with relentless creativity.
A meal at TASK opens the door to a world of services and support. Along with food, we provide basic necessities, access to case managers, and programs that encourage and aid self-sufficiency, so patrons have the tools they need to pursue a better quality of life and leave hunger behind.
Our Services
Advocacy
Giving voice to the needs of our patrons.
TASK staff and patrons regularly travel throughout the Trenton area to raise awareness about food and nutrition insecurity, social services, adult education and workforce preparedness. With 40 years of experience, TASK is also frequently asked for consultation on important policies and legislation. If you would like to invite someone from TASK to appear at a program or event, you can request a speaker here.
