Supporter Spotlight: Jackie Schiffer

Ms. New Jersey International focuses on NJ Hunger Heroes campaign

Jackie Schiffer wears many hats, and sometimes crowns.

In addition to her day job as Director of Institutional Advancement at a performing arts center in New York City, Schiffer is a successful actress, singer and model as well as a respected coach and consultant. After being crowned as Ms. Mercer County and now Ms. New Jersey International, Schiffer is also using her platform to advocate for a cause close to her heart, NJ Hunger Heroes.

Schiffer smiles and gives a thumbs up before her recent volunteer shift at TASK.

Schiffer, who has been involved in food security work since her youth, strives to uplift and empower everyone from children to adults to end hunger through volunteerism and advocacy.

“I want people to know that in a problem as big as hunger, small actions can make a difference. Simply, I want people to feel connected to the heart of this issue,” says Schiffer.

She continues, “A big part of my work is also centered around promoting local organizations like TASK. As Ms. New Jersey International, my goal is to reach all 21 counties!”

Over the years, Schiffer has made countless contributions to hunger relief efforts. At TASK, she has volunteered regularly during meal service and runs frequent donation drives and service projects to benefit our community. Throughout it all, Schiffer uses her social media accounts to educate followers, share opportunities to get involved and advocate for food security.

Schiffer shares on her social media about the importance of healthy food choices, as she also displays weekend meal bags she delivered to TASK.

Says Schiffer, “I believe that food is so much more than what we eat. Food is culture; it’s impacted by our environment and economics, and it also tells us a lot about each other’s traditions. Most importantly, food builds community, which is what drew me to TASK.”

She continues, “The TASK community is so gracious and kind. I love that I always feel welcome. The staff truly cares about each patron and goes the extra mile to ensure their needs are met.”

“Also, TASK makes it easy for people to get involved. As I work a traditional 9-to-5 job, I can’t always make lunch or dinner shifts, but through food drives, silverware kit packing and more, I’m able to support TASK’s mission and have been able to involve other NJ Hunger Heroes in the process.”

TASK is so grateful to Schiffer for using her stage to put the spotlight on hunger relief and for encouraging NJ’s Hunger Heroes in the fight against food insecurity!
