On a sunny summer afternoon, two hard-working brothers set up a cheerful lemonade stand on their street in Morrisville. With hand-painted signs, zesty drinks and gallons of enthusiasm, the young entrepreneurs set out with a goal to help their neighbors cool off and make a difference.

Jack, 11, and Owen, 6, are now six years into what has become an annual family tradition to raise funds for TASK.

“We started the lemonade stand back in 2019, when Jack was 6 and Owen was 1,” says their mom Jacquelyn. “We only made tens of dollars back then, so we used the money to pack lunches to bring to TASK. A year or two later, when we began making hundreds of dollars, we decided to raise the funds to make a donation instead.”

Each year, the boys set a goal to raise more funds than the year before. Says Jack, “It’s a lot of fun and a great way to help people. We have friends over, make signs… It feels so good at the end of the day to see all your hard work pay off!”

Owen’s motivations are perhaps a little simpler: “I like drinking lemonade!”

“As a family, we loved volunteering from home, packing lunches and toiletry bags,” says Jacquelyn. “Over the years, TASK has grown closer to our hearts. It’s a special place to spend your time and money to help others. The lemonade stand for TASK has become a family tradition we all look forward to.”

This year, the boys are proud to report that their hard work paid off. They successfully raised $335, proving that even the smallest hands can stir up real change!

And then came a twist…an anonymous donor matched their donation!

After the matching donor read about the lemonade stand and Jack and Owen’s commitment to helping support TASK, they reached out to TASK asking if they could match the donation. Of course, we said yes!

The total donation to TASK was $670. All because a couple of brothers started a lemonade stand. It’s this kind of creative thinking and community-mindedness that embodies what we do and believe in at TASK. Every person matters. Every dollar counts. Thank you to everyone that comes up with an idea to help. Your generosity with your dollars and your compassion matters more than you may realize.
