The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) continues to be a pillar of support in the fight against hunger across the greater Trenton area. According to the recent Hunger Relief Impact Report for Fiscal Year 2025 (July 2024 – June 2025), TASK’s efforts made a profound impact by expanding our reach and increasing the number of meals served amid rising food insecurity and homelessness.

TASK served an impressive 629,053 meals in FY25 alone, averaging 12,097 meals weekly, with no questions asked. This unwavering commitment to feeding the hungry highlights the ongoing need in our communities, particularly in Trenton, which receives 83% of all meals served by TASK.

With 51 active meal sites across Mercer County, NJ and Bucks County, PA, as well as a growing presence through our food truck program, TASK served 51,118 mobile meals in Trenton. In addition to hot meals, TASK distributed 56,949 brown bags and over 81,000 pounds of groceries, providing essential nourishment beyond our dining room on Escher Street.

According to third party reports, homelessness in New Jersey rose by 8% from 2024 to 2025, further driving up the need for meal services. Children under 18 and adults over 55 now make up 20% each of the state’s homeless population. Mercer County is facing the highest rate of food insecurity in the region, with 11.1% of residents struggling to access food consistently. Even more concerning, over 11,000 children—or 13% of all children in Mercer County—are experiencing chronic hunger.

In the face of increasing need, TASK is not only keeping pace with growing demand but is actively expanding its reach, proving that with community support, it is possible to fight hunger one meal at a time.
